Genara D. Freeman-Morris, Esq. is a practicingattorney with the Daniel E. Morris Law Firm, where she focuses on complexlitigation, multidistrict litigation (MDL), and federal practice. As a memberof the Jaguar Athletic Group (JAG), she brings strategic leadership, legalexpertise, and a deep commitment to building sustainable support systems forSouthern University Athletics.

In addition to her legal practice, Attorney Morris serves as a Professor of Law,where she is dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders throughrigorous instruction, critical thinking, and practical skill-building. Her prior roles as a Career Counselor and Academic Counselor at Southern University Law Center reflect her unwavering commitment to student success, mentorship,and professional development—values that align directly with JAG’s mission tosupport and uplift student-athletes.Her experience spans both the legal and public policy arenas. She has served as alaw clerk with Elvin Sterling Law Firm and completed legislative internships at the federal and state levels, including with U.S. Senator J. Bennett Johnstonand the Jefferson Delegation at the Louisiana State Capitol. These experiences have shaped her ability to navigate complex systems, advocate effectively, and lead with purpose.

Attorney Morris has also served as Board Attorney for multiple entities, including Community Action, the City of Drew, and Delta Healthcare, providing guidance ongovernance, compliance, and operational strategy, skills that are critical to JAG’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and structured growth.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Public Administration (B.P.A.),Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA), and Juris Doctor (J.D.),reflecting a strong interdisciplinary foundation in law, leadership, and public service. She is a member of the National Bar Association, Mississippi Bar Association, Mississippi Bar Association Estates & Trusts Section Member, Top Ladies of Distinction (TLOD), and Conference of Minority Public Administrators(COMPA). She is also a member of the greatest sorority in the world, Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.

As a JAG leader, Attorney Morris embodies The Blueprint, combining legalexcellence, strategic vision, and a passion for service to help buildresources, opportunities, and a lasting legacy for Southern Universitystudent-athletes.
He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern University A&M College, where he played football as a right tackle on the Championship Teams from 1993 to 1996. He served as Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach under Coach Billy Long and later served as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach under legendary Coach Pete Richardson from 2001 to 2006. His time as a student-athlete and coach instilled in him discipline, leadership,and commitment that continue to define his career.

Attorney Morris went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center, where he served as a Student Criminal Attorney and became a Certified Mediator. He also gained valuable judicial experience as a Law Clerk for the 19th Judicial District Court in Louisiana.

Professionally, Attorney Morris has built adiverse and impactful legal career. In addition to private practice, he has served as a Public Defender in Cleveland, Mississippi, and in the Bolivar and Wilkinson County Justice and Circuit Courts. He became Board Attorney for Delta Health Center, Inc, the first Federally Qualified Health Center in the United States and City fffffor the City of Drew, Mississippi. He is an active member of the Mississippi Bar Association, Magnolia Bar Association, and American Bar Association, and served as Vice President of the Southern University Football Alumni Association (SUFAA). He is also a proud member of Bonanza Social Club and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Attorney Morris’s favorite aspect of his work is serving alongside his partner and wife, Attorney Genara D. Morris, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. He values the opportunity to lead, mentor, and advocate within his community, while also embracing the intellectual rigor of the courtroom and the fulfillment that comes from helping injured clients obtain justice.Through his professional achievements, leadership, and unwavering commitment to service, Attorney Daniel E. Marlin Glenn is a dedicated professional, community leader, and lifelong advocate for education and mentorship. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 1997 and is currently pursuing his Juris Doctor as a member of the Class of 2029.

A proud former student-athlete, Marlin was a member of the Southern University Football Team from 1992 to 1994, where he developed the discipline, leadership, and work ethic that continue to shape his professional and personal life.

Professionally, Marlin has served as a Sales Manager at Hollingsworth Richards Ford since 2011, bringing over a decade of leadership and industry experience. In addition, he has been a licensed Realtor since 2008, demonstrating his entrepreneurial drive and commitment to serving his community.

Marlin’s legacy is deeply rooted in family and Southern University tradition. His mother is a 1959 graduate, his brother graduated in 1994, and his wife, Sandra Glenn, is a 1996 graduate. Together, they have built a strong foundation centered on education, service, and community. Marlin is a devoted husband and the proud father of four children.

A committed servant-leader, Marlin is actively involved in the Greater Baton Rouge community. He is a member of 100 Black Men of Greater Baton Rouge, where he serves as a Project Excel Mentor, guiding and uplifting young people through education and leadership development. He also serves as a Deacon at Greater King David Baptist Church.

His leadership extends into civic engagement as a graduate of Leadership Baton Rouge (2021) and a participant in the ChangeMakers Baton Rouge Cohort (2022), where he continues to contribute to meaningful community impact.

Marlin is passionate about empowering the next generation. He firmly believes that education is the key to breaking generational barriers and that athletics play a critical role in instilling discipline, values, and resilience. Through his work, mentorship, and service, he is committed to creating pathways for success and building a lasting legacy of impact.

Dr. Byron C. Hurst, a native of Greensburg, Louisiana, has dedicated 24 years to education. A 1996 graduate of St. Helena Central High School, he attended Southern University, where he excelled academically and athletically as a member of the Jaguar football team and became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education in 2001.

Dr. Hurst began his career with the St. Helena Parish School System, serving as a teacher,Dean of Students and Principal. He later earned a Master’s and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Southeastern Louisiana University and held leadership roles in Tangipahoa Parish, including Director of Child Welfare and Attendance and Assistant Superintendent.
He was also selected by the Louisiana Department of Education to lead its Well-Being division following the pandemic. Dr. Hurst also served on the St. Helena Parish school board. Currently, Dr. Hurst serves as Superintendent of Bogalusa City Schools and Deputy Assistant Superintendent for the Louisiana Department of Education. He views his work as a ministry and has also served as an adjunct professor and school board member.

Dr. Hurst enjoys traveling, outdoor cooking, and spending time with family. He is married to Laketsha, and they have three children: Chazmyn, Chase, and Champ. partner and wife, Attorney Genara D. Roderick Hill is a celebrated Southern University alumnus whose outstanding athletic and academic achievements earned him induction into the Southern University Hall of Fame in 2012. As a dominant left offensive tackle, Hill helped lead the Jaguars to two SWAC Championships and two National Championships, earning All-Louisiana, All-SWAC, and All-American honors while anchoring the renowned “Racehorse Offense,” one of the nation’s most prolific units in 1995. He was also a standout in track and field, winning indoor and outdoor SWAC shot put titles and contributing to three conference championship teams. Academically, Hill excelled as well, earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1997 and conducting research at Princeton University. His career at Southern is marked by excellence across athletics, academics, and leadership, reflecting a deep and lasting connection to the university.Roderick is a distinguished Business Transformation Leader who has shaped operational excellence and strategic outcomes at premier Fortune 500 organizations such as Boeing, General Motors, Procter & Gamble, BASF, Amazon, L’Oréal, and Hovione Pharmaceuticals.

Kenyatta Sparks is the Director of Operations at SULLA, LLC. In this role, he oversees the daily operations of the company while consulting with small business owners to help them strengthen their business infrastructures and develop strategic relationships with federal, state, and local government entities, as well as contractors. A native of New Orleans, LA, and now a resident of Gonzales, LA, Kenyatta has been married to his wife, Janelle Sparks, for twenty-seven years. Together, they share three children — Keyanta StCyr, Jared Sparks, and Adam Sparks — and two grandchildren, Rylee Thompson and Khari Emory.

A Hall of Fame athlete at Southern University A&M College, recognized for his achievements in both football and track, Kenyatta is passionate about empowering entrepreneurs with the tools they need to succeed. His dedication to advancing minority- and women-owned businesses has earned him recognition as one of the Capital Region’s 100 Most Influential Black Men by the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his professional work, Kenyatta serves on the Board of Directors for several prominent organizations, including The Wallace Foundation, The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce, The Jaguar Athletic Group (J.A.G.), and The Reimagine Women’s Center.

Jerry Guye, III was born on November 16, 1975 to Jerry and Brenda Guye. He grew up in Coushatta, Louisiana along with his three sisters, Sheron, Nikebra, and Shequitta. JJ, as most people call him, was an avid outdoorsman and a multi talented athlete. He excelled in every sport but football became his passion. Although he was short, his speed and athleticism were unparalleled. On the field, he was nearly unstoppable as a punt returner.

Jerry shined as a receiver, cornerback, and return man at Coushatta High School. His productivity helped to lead his high school team to a state championship in 1994.Jerry went on to earn a full scholarship to Southern University where his athletic skills flourished. He was one of the only players on his team to play both ways. He was the leading receiver in 1997 and the special teams MVP in 1998. Jerry set four punt return records in the 1996 Heritage Bowl.

After a stellar college career, Jerry took his football skills into arena football with the Baton Rouge Blaze, where he was the leading receiver his rookie year. He went on to play two more seasons in the arena league before settling into life after football.

Having grown up in a tight knit family, Jerry transitioned easily into family life. He has four children: Kyle, Jerry, IV, Payton, and Landon. Jerry also has two grandchildren: Jayden and Jeremiah. After working as an educator and coaching junior high and high school basketball and football for nearly a decade, Jerry went on to fulfill a lifelong goal when he became a residential and commercial licensed contractor. He started his construction company, Guye’s Construction, LLC, in 2005. Jerry has spent more than 20 years helping to make people’s dream of home ownership come true.

Jerry currently resides in Opelousas, La where he continues to build commercial and residential properties throughout the area. He recently returned to coaching in 2025 as the head middle school football and basketball coach at Family Worship Christian Academy in Opelousas, La. where his 2025 flag football team won the All United Flag Football championship.
