In addition to her legal practice, Attorney Morris serves as a Professor of Law,where she is dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders throughrigorous instruction, critical thinking, and practical skill-building. Her prior roles as a Career Counselor and Academic Counselor at Southern University Law Center reflect her unwavering commitment to student success, mentorship,and professional development—values that align directly with JAG’s mission tosupport and uplift student-athletes.Her experience spans both the legal and public policy arenas. She has served as alaw clerk with Elvin Sterling Law Firm and completed legislative internships at the federal and state levels, including with U.S. Senator J. Bennett Johnstonand the Jefferson Delegation at the Louisiana State Capitol. These experiences have shaped her ability to navigate complex systems, advocate effectively, and lead with purpose.
Attorney Morris has also served as Board Attorney for multiple entities, including Community Action, the City of Drew, and Delta Healthcare, providing guidance ongovernance, compliance, and operational strategy, skills that are critical to JAG’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and structured growth.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Public Administration (B.P.A.),Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA), and Juris Doctor (J.D.),reflecting a strong interdisciplinary foundation in law, leadership, and public service. She is a member of the National Bar Association, Mississippi Bar Association, Mississippi Bar Association Estates & Trusts Section Member, Top Ladies of Distinction (TLOD), and Conference of Minority Public Administrators(COMPA). She is also a member of the greatest sorority in the world, Delta Sigma Theta, Inc.
As a JAG leader, Attorney Morris embodies The Blueprint, combining legalexcellence, strategic vision, and a passion for service to help buildresources, opportunities, and a lasting legacy for Southern Universitystudent-athletes.
He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern University A&M College, where he played football as a right tackle on the Championship Teams from 1993 to 1996. He served as Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach under Coach Billy Long and later served as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach under legendary Coach Pete Richardson from 2001 to 2006. His time as a student-athlete and coach instilled in him discipline, leadership,and commitment that continue to define his career.
Attorney Morris went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center, where he served as a Student Criminal Attorney and became a Certified Mediator. He also gained valuable judicial experience as a Law Clerk for the 19th Judicial District Court in Louisiana.
Professionally, Attorney Morris has built adiverse and impactful legal career. In addition to private practice, he has served as a Public Defender in Cleveland, Mississippi, and in the Bolivar and Wilkinson County Justice and Circuit Courts. He became Board Attorney for Delta Health Center, Inc, the first Federally Qualified Health Center in the United States and City fffffor the City of Drew, Mississippi. He is an active member of the Mississippi Bar Association, Magnolia Bar Association, and American Bar Association, and served as Vice President of the Southern University Football Alumni Association (SUFAA). He is also a proud member of Bonanza Social Club and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Attorney Morris’s favorite aspect of his work is serving alongside his partner and wife, Attorney Genara D. Morris, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
